Appointments

Online appointment booking temporarily suspended

The online appointment booking service has been temporarily ceased in line with NHS England guidance so please telephone the surgery to make arrangements.

Appointments System

If you want to make an appointment with a doctor or nurse, please phone the main surgery number and speak to a receptionist. You can do this from 08:30 – 17:30 Monday – Friday (20:30Tuesdays) or you can book you appointment online via the link at the top of this page.

For an urgent on the same day appointment, please ring as early as possible and you will be asked to give a brief description. You can make an appointment with a nurse or healthcare assistant without seeing the doctor first.

Booking Appointments Ahead

You can book an appointment to see a GP up to three weeks in advance. These are called pre-bookable appointments; though we may not be able to guarantee the GP of your choice in advance for various logistical reasons, we will offer an alternative GP. If you would prefer to see the GP of your choice, it is better to telephone the surgery either on the day or the day before you require your appointment. You can also book online

We can also offer appointments with one of our Practice nurses or our healthcare assistant up to three months in advance making this ideal for those patients with long-term conditions and who need to be monitored on a regular basis.

Home Visits

The doctor or nurse can visit patients who are seriously ill or who cannot leave the house.  If you need a home visit it is best to phone the surgery before 11.00.  Where possible, the doctor will speak to the patient over the phone before visiting or arranging for a district nurse to see the patient.

Do please try to come to the surgery if at all possible. (A doctor can see 4-6 patients at the surgery in the time it takes him/her to visit one patient at home).

Telephone Advice/Consultations

Sometimes you may want to speak to a doctor or nurse about something but do not need to come into the surgery for a face-to-face appointment.

If you would like to talk to someone over the phone you can arrange this with a receptionist who will take your number and arrange a suitable time.

Teaching

Doctors and nurses at this surgery help to teach. You may occasionally be asked if a student can sit in at your consultation.

If you are not happy with this, for whatever reason, please say so - it is your choice if you wish to be seen alone.

Evening & Weekend Appointments

We now have additional appointments available at a time to suit you – after 18:30 on weekdays and also on Saturdays and Sundays through the day. Bank Holidays are also covered by this new initiative. This has been organised by your GP Practice in partnership with other Practices in North Tyneside.

These appointments are all pre-bookable so if you need an appointment in the evening or weekend because you are busy during the week, then please continue to arrange it through your own GP Practice.

Many of these appointments will be available on the same day that you call your Practice if you need to be seen quickly. We have appointments until 20:00 every weekday and on Saturdays and Sundays to see a doctor, nurse or healthcare assistant.

Some of these appointments are at hubs or central locations to suit you but they are all provided by local doctors and nurses and they all have full access to your patient notes.

To book one of these appointments please ring reception and ask to book an appointment at the Oxford Centre on an evening or weekend.
